Washington DC - USA condemns anti-Jewish remarks the President of Egypt. According to the television pictures were revealed last week by the Institute of the Middle East Media Research, in the year 2010 Morsi called the people of Israel as the people who occupy Palestine. He issued another derogatory remark and called on Egyptians to teach their children to hate Jews.
A spokesman for the U.S. State Department, Victoria Nuland, told reporters on Tuesday (15/1) that Washington condemned the words spoken by the President Morsi.
Nuland said the United States wants to be president Morsi said very clearly to its people and the international community that he respects all faiths. He stressed that such remarks are unacceptable in a democratic Egypt.
Morsi, a former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in power, came to power last year as president of Egypt's first democratically elected. However, Nuland said that since taking office in June, he has reaffirmed its support for Egypt's peace treaty with Israel.
